Two Arrested In Connection With Alan Ryan Shooting

Garda investigating the murder of senior Real IRA member Alan Ryan in Dublin last month have arrested two men.

The men aged in their late 20s and 30s were arrested today (Thursday) and are being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Coolock Garda station.

Dissident republican Mr Ryan was shot dead at Grange Lodge Avenue, Clongriffin, north Dublin, on September 3.

It is understood Mr Ryan was visiting family members at a house in the area, and when he left the house he was ambushed on the street.

A car carrying, what gardaí believe were, two gunmen pulled up and at least one of the passengers got out and started firing at Mr Ryan and the other man.

Mr Ryan was hit a number of times, including as he lay wounded on the ground. The masked gunman shot him at least once in the head, before running back to the car.

No other information has yet been released on the arrests.
