Man Arrested In Jill Meagher Search Investigation
Melbourne police have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of Irish woman Jill Meagher.
In a statement released this morning, police said a 41-year-old man from Coburg, a suburb of Melbourne, was arrested today and is assisting police with their investigation.
The arrested man is understood to be Australian. He is being questioned at Victoria Police’s special crime department in the St
Kilda area of the city.
In another development, one of the six men seen in CCTV footage released in the search Ms Meagher contacted the police earlier today.
Dan Gregson is seen in the footage walking down Sydney Road in the suburb of Brunswick early last Saturday morning, shortly before Ms Meagher disappeared.
Six days after she disappeared, homicide squad detectives hold grave fears for her and believe she was most likely abducted.

Adrian Ernest Bayley, 41, pleaded guilty to raping and murdering Mrs Meagher and was sentenced to life imprisonment for the killing, and 15 years for rape. He will not be able to apply for parole for at least 35 years.

The funeral of murdered Irishwoman Jill Meagher is to take place this Friday in Melbourne, her family has announced. The service will take place at 10:30 local time (01:30 Irish time). A public memorial is expected to be held in Drogheda, Mrs Meagher's hometown, on the same day.
