Jill Meagher Murderer Appeals Sentence
The man given a minimum term of 35 years for the murder and rape of Jill Meagher has launched an appeal against his sentence.
Jill Meagher (29) was murdered in Melbourne, Austrailia, in September last year as she made her way home after a night out with friends.
Adrian Ernest Bayley was convicted of the rape and murder of Ms Meagher and was sentenced to life for murder and 15 years for rape. He was told that he would serve a minimum of 35 years.
Bayley has begun an appeal over the length of his jail term.

The funeral of murdered Irishwoman Jill Meagher is to take place this Friday in Melbourne, her family has announced. The service will take place at 10:30 local time (01:30 Irish time). A public memorial is expected to be held in Drogheda, Mrs Meagher's hometown, on the same day.

He has pleaded guilty to raping Ms Meagher, but denies a murder charge and two other counts of rape.
