Second Man Charged With Geoghegan Murder
A 29-year-old Limerick man has appeared at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin, the second person to be charged with the murder of Shane Geoghegan in 2008.
John Dundon of Hyde Road in Limerick was brought before the non-jury Special Criminal Court charged with the murder of the Garryowen rugby player, who was shot five times in a case of mistaken identity.
One man has already been jailed for life for Mr Geoghegan’s murder.
Detective Garda Padraig Maguire said Mr Dundon was charged this morning at the Courts of Criminal Justice.
Prosecuting counsel told the court the DPP had directed that the trial should be heard in the non-jury court as the ordinary courts were "inadequate to secure the effective administration of Justice".
