Pipebombs Found In Sligo

Two pipebombs were found in Sligo last night.

An Army disposal team was deployed to a forest entrance on Holy Well Road just outside the town at about 9.30 last night.

They arrived following a request from the gardai as a suspicious device had been found.

It was made safe at the scene by the bomb disposal team, and a second device found subsequently was brought back to a secure military location for forensic examination.

The scene was declared safe at 11.45pm and remains of the two devices were handed over to Garda Headquarters in Dublin to assist in their investigations.

The incident was the 118th callout for the Army's bomb disposal teams this year, and they have made 59 improvised explosive devices safe in 2012 so far.

Viable Device In Dublin Made Safe
The Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a viable device in Dublin. The improvised explosive was found close to the Hollystown roundabout, on the Cappagh Road in Finglas, at approximately 11.45pm on Tuesday night. The area was sealed off for a period of time and the device has been taken for further examination.

Grenade Found At House In Galway
More than 30 families were evacuated from their homesi n Galway last night after a device was found in the garden of a house. A viable World War II grenade was discovered at a property at approximately 10.30pm. An army disposal team made the device safe at around 1.30am.

Suspicious Device Found In Rush Made Safe
A suspicious device has been made safe in Co Dublin. Emergency services were alerted earlier today, 02 December, that a suspect device had been located in Rush. An emergency cordon was established in the surrounding area and number of homes were evacuated. The Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived at the scene at 9.40am and site was declared safe at 11.

Suspicious Device Found At Dublin Pub
Bomb disposal experts were tasked to a Dublin pub on Sunday morning, after being alerted to the finding of a suspicious device. Experts examined the device found outside the north Dublin Jolly Toper premises, concealed in a package located in a vehicle in the car park on Church Street, Finglas at around 8.30am.

Viable Explosive Device Made Safe In Dublin
A viable improvised explosive device (IED) has been made safe in Dublin, it has been confirmed. It is understood the device was discovered in the garden of a private residence on Thursday evening by the homeowner. A bomb disposal team attended the scene in Ronanstown, Co Dublin. Some homes were evacuated, while road closures were also put in place.
