Body Found At Disused Building In Waterford

Gardai in Waterford city are investigating following the discovery of a man’s body in the city.

The body was found at approximately 6pm yesterday by some youths in the area around a disused building at the top of New Street.

It is understood the man, who was in his 20s, was lying on his side on the ground. Gardaí believe he may have fallen from the roof of the building, or that he may have been the victim of an assault.

The scene is currently sealed off pending a full forensic examination and the State Pathologist's office has been notified.

A post mortem will be carried out later today.

Body Found On Balcony In Waterford City
Garda in Waterford are appealing for information following the discovery of a body at an apartment in the city this morning at around 08:15am. It is understood that the body was found on the balcony of a flat on Canada Square. The scene has been sealed and an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

Former Irish Times Editor Dies
Journalist Ella Shanahan, has passed away in her County Waterford home. Ms Shanahan, 60, was the former London Editor of The Irish Times. She will also be remembered for her work in the RTÉ newsroom in the 1970s.
