Former Irish Times Editor Dies

Journalist Ella Shanahan, has passed away in her County Waterford home.

Ms Shanahan, 60, was the former London Editor of The Irish Times.

She will also be remembered for her work in the RTÉ newsroom in the 1970s.

Former Sports Coach Arrested In Waterford After Abuse Allegations
A former sports coach has been arrested by garda in Waterford in connection with allegations of sexual abuse carried out in the 1970s and 1980s. According to the Irish Times, the man in his 60s was arrested at his home around 08:00 on Friday morning. He is being held at Waterford Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Three Irish universities have been ranked as among the top 150 young institutions in the world. The University of Limerick (UL), the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUI Maynooth) and Dublin City University (DCU) were listed in the '150 under 50' by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking.

Gardaí in Limerick have issued a new appeal for information on the whereabouts of Aengus Shanahan, who went missing almost 16 years ago. Aengus, better known as 'Gussie' is the youngest in a family of four and lived with his parents Bob and Nancy at Ashbrook, Ennis road, Limerick.

Irish Broadcasting 'Legend' Honoured
A broadcasting legend is to be recognised and honoured at a prestigious Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) event. 'A Life in Television' is an accolade for Cathal O'Shannon and takes place today at 1pm at the Conrad Hotel, Dublin.
