Garda Dies Following Weekend Shooting Incident
A 29-year-old garda officer, who is understood to have shot himself in the head, has died at Kerry General Hospital.
Named as Adrian Hickey from Blarney Co Cork, the garda had been in a critical condition following a shooting incident in Tralee on Sunday.
In the incident the officer suffered a gunshot wound to the head from his official issue garda handgun.
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission was asked to investigate but confirmed it was not treating the incident as suspicious.
The garda was at home at the house he shared with his fiancée at Lis Ard on the Abbeydorney Road in Tralee when the shooting occurred.
Mr Hickey’s family including his father, a retired garda, were at his bedside at the hospital when he died at about 9pm last night.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dublin Shooting Incident
Gardaí investigating a shooting incident outside a west Dublin school have made an arrest. A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested during the course of the search operation in Corduff. He has been detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, where he can be held for up to 72 hours.

Two Men Arrested Over Dublin Shooting Incident
Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Dublin on Tuesday night. At approximately 11.30pm Gardai received a report of a firearm been discharged at a house on Inverness Road in Fairview. On arrival it was discovered that a shot had been fired at an upstairs bedroom window.
