Two Arrested In Connection To Waterford Death

A 47-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman have been arrested following the death of a 60-year-old man in Waterford city last night.

The body was discovered in the Scotch Marsh House apartment complex in the Scotch Quay area of the city.

The two arrested are believed to have known the victim, who is thought to have been assaulted following a row.

The man's body remains at the scene at present. A post mortem examination will take place at Waterford Regional Hospital later this afternoon.

Members of the Garda Forensic Bureau have arrived in Waterford to examine the scene of the fatal assault.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Scotch Quay, Scotsh Hall or William and Canada Street area's of the city between 9.30pm and 10.30pm last night to come forward.

Former Irish Times Editor Dies
Journalist Ella Shanahan, has passed away in her County Waterford home. Ms Shanahan, 60, was the former London Editor of The Irish Times. She will also be remembered for her work in the RTÉ newsroom in the 1970s.

Man Released In Connection With Attack In Waterford
A man arrested in connection with a serious attack in Waterford has been released without charge. A 22-year-old man remains in a critical condition after he was assaulted in Williamstown in Waterford city at the weekend. Another man, 22, remains in Garda custody over the attack. A file will be prepared for the DPP.
