Staff Hold Sit-In Protests At Game

Staff of two Game stores in Ireland have begun a sit-protest over the shop closures.

Games has 14 shops in Ireland and 263 in Britain all of which closed yesterday when the company went into administration.

Seven staff at the St Patrick Street branch and nine at the Mahon Point Shopping Centre branch are awaiting the outcome of a meeting between store managers and the company in Dublin.

Staff at the St Patrick Street branch in Cork stayed there overnight, while staff at Mahon Point returned this morning to begin their protest.

Deputy Store Manager Barry Lynch said they are not prepared to let anyone remove the stock, or strip the store, until they have been fairly treated.

The staff have between two months and nine years of experience between them.
