Pedestrian Killed In Traffic Collision

A pedestrian has been killed after he was struck by a car at around 10pm last night.

The 48-year-old man was hit by the vehicle on the N2 at Reaghstown, Ardee, County Louth.

His body has been removed to the Louth County Hospital for a post mortem examination.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The scene remains closed and diversions are in place.

Gardai are asking anyone with information to contact the Ardee Garda Station on 041-68711130 or the confidential line.

A young man has been killed following a hit and run incident in County Cork. A 21-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured after he was struck by a car at Pewterhole Cross, Kinsale. His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital.

Two Men Killed In Co Louth Road Collision
Two men have died in a road accident in County Louth at around 1.30am on Thursday morning. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other man was taken tio hospital where he died a short time later. The vehicle they were in struck a bridge and a tree on the N2 between Ardee and Conlon. The road has been closed for a technical examination.

Car Drives Into Crowd At Dundalk Cemetery
A man is in hospital after he was struck by a car that drove towards a crowd in a County Louth graveyard. Gardaí arrested a 20-year-old man at the scene in St Patrick's Cemetery in Dundalk following the incident during the annual blessing of the graves on Sunday 21 July.

Shotgun Aimed At Irish Water Employee
A gun has been seized from a man, 65, after he pointed it at an Irish Water employee in County Louth, according to gardai. The incident occurred at a property in Ardee after 9am on Tuesday. A spokesman said that the worker was looking for a stop-com for the mains of the house. A double-barrel shotgun is believed to have been aimed at the worker.

Age Restrictions Must Be Lifted At Louth County Hospital - FG
Age restrictions at the Minor Injuries Unit at Louth County Hospital must be lifted to allow children to be treated there, Fine Gael TD for Louth, Peter Fitzpatrick. Currently, there is an age restriction of 14 years at the unit, which Deputy Fitzpatrick has appealed to be lifted to allow the services to be made available to children.
