Two Arrested Over Tallaght Shooting

Two men have been arrested in Tallaght in connection with the murder of Melanie Mc Namara who was shot in Tallaght on February 7.

Gardaí investigating the murder said they arrested two males, in their early 20’s and late teens, on Thursday.

Both men were arrested in Athy Co Kildare following a Garda operation involving Gardaí from Tallaght, The National Bureau Of Criminal Investigation and local Gardaí from Kildare.

The men are detained in Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The incident occurred at around 10.35pm when the 16-year-old Melanie sustained serious injuries from a firearm discharged from a passing vehicle. The shot hit Melanie as she sat in the passenger seat of a parked car at Brookview Way, Tallaght. She was taken to Tallaght Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Her body was removed to the mortuary at Tallaght Hospital for a post mortem examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.

Missing Tallaght Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A man who had been missing from the Tallaght area has been found 'safe and well', Garda have reported. 30-year-old John Rodgers was reported missing on 11 July. However, Garda said John has now been found and thanked the public for their assistance.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested by gardaí following the seizure of a firearm in Tallaght, Dublin. He was arrested on the Jobstown Road at approximately 12.40am on Tuesday morning. Gardaí were alerted after a man was seen holding a weapon. The male was chased on foot and gardaí disarmed and arrested him.

Man Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Michael Devoy Released
A man arrested in connection with the murder of Michael Devoy has been released without charge. The body of the 41-year-old, from Ballymun in Dublin, was found at Foxhill on 18 January 2014. A man in his 20s was being questioned by officers at Tallaght Garda Station. He has since been released. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

Four Girls In Hospital After Aerosol Explosion
Garda are investigating the circumstances surrounding four girls ending up in hospital after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda on Sunday. The girls are being treated in hospital, two in Crumlin's children's hospital and two in Tallaght, following the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
