Two Arrests Made Over Rathfarnham Bank Robbery

Gardaí investigating a bank robbery at the Rathfarnham Shopping Centre yesterday have arrested two men in the Dublin 8 area this morning.

Around noon a lone gunman entered the Bank branch and demanded money from the cashier. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was observed getting into a small blue car which was located a short time later. No shots were fired and no persons were injured.

In a follow-up operation this morning two men, in their 30s/early 40s, were arrested in connection with the incident. They are both being detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station.

Investigations are continuing.

Robbery Arrests Made
The two men arrested after gardaí foiled an attempt to rob the Bank of Ireland in Edenderry, Co Offaly over the weekend are also being grilled on an earlier incident. The men - who are in their mid 40s - were arrested early on Sunday morning as they tried to break through a disused premises next door to the bank.
