Co Leitrim Device Investigation 'On-Going'

Gardai in Carrick-on-Shannon are continuing their investigations into the discovery of an explosive device in a field at Kildorragh, Ballinamore, in Co Leitrim

The device was discovered at approximately 4pm on 28th March.

The scene was preserved by Gardai and the services of the EOD were requested. The device was removed by the Army for examination.

From the initial examination it would appear that the device was in the location for a considerable period of time.

The scene is still preserved and investigations are on-going.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

Man's Body Found In Westmeath
The body of a man, believed to be in his 20s, has been found in a camper van in Collinstown, County Westmeath. The man’s body was discovered in the vehicle at around 4.00am on Thursday morning at Lough Lene in the village. A man in his late 20s is in custody at Mullingar Garda Station and is being questioned in connection with the incident.

Woman's Body Found In County Laoise
Gardai are continuing with their investigations after the discovery of a woman's body in County Laoise. The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found at a flat in Mountrath. The alarm was raised shortly after 8pm on Friday. A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to the incident and is detained at Portlaoise Garda Station.

Body Exhumed In Search For Missing Man
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of a man in 1987 have exhumed a body after a tip off. Brian McGrath, aged then 43, was last seen in 1987. Early on Monday morning Gardai exhumed remains at Whitehall Cemetery, Coole, Co Westmeath to be taken to Dublin City Morgue for additional post mortem examination and further tests.
