Three Due In Court Over Drug Seizure

Three men arrested on Monday over drug trafficking offenses are due to appear in front of a Dublin court tomorrow.

The men were arrested in Dublin in connection with the discovery of drugs in the Dublin area and will appear in court number three, Courts of Criminal Justice, in Dublin at 10.30am tomorrow, to be charged in relation to the seizure.

Gardaí reported yesterday that the arrests were made as part of an ongoing intelligence led operation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Dublin area.

Last night officers arrested the three men and seized 32 kilos of herbal cannabis, which has an estimated street value of approximately €400,000.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit, assisted by the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested two males, aged 25 years and 40years, on Fassaugh Avenue in Cabra and seized 25 kilos of herbal cannabis.

In a follow up search on Carnlough Road, Cabra, a male aged 31 was arrested in possession of seven kilos of herbal cannabis.

The males are being detained at Cabra and Finglas Garda stations under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Bailey To Appeal Extradition
Ian Bailey is to bring a Supreme Court challenge against his extradition to France for questioning over the murder of a film-maker. The former journalist is wanted for questioning by French detectives over the 1996 murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, 39. She was found dead outside her holiday home at Toormore, west Cork, in December 1996.
