Second Bomb Scare Hits North
The police and Army bomb experts were this afternoon investigating reports of a suspect device in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim after an object was discovered on the Reahill Road on Thursday at 12.30pm.
The road was closed and a police spokewoman said they were dealing with a "possible pipe bomb".
Meanwhile, the latest in a series of security alerts in north Belfast this morning followed the discovery of a suspicious object in the nationalist New Lodge area.
A number of houses were evacuated in Stratheden Street after the object was discovered shortly before 7am on Thursday and the police attended the scene of the alert and then declared it to be a viable device.
A controlled explosion was then carried out and the device was taken away for examination.
Residents were expected to be allowed back to their homes in late afternnon. It is the second time a device has been left in the area in recent months with a major double bomb attack also being foiled last week on the nearby Antrim Road.

Antrim Road Bomb Nearly 'Another Omagh'
A second terrorist bomb has been made safe this week on Belfast's Antrim Road. Police said they were only able to reopen the area on Thursday evening for the remaining people who had been moved from their homes to return - although it is understood some businesses will still be affected on Friday.

Viable Device In Dublin Made Safe
The Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a viable device in Dublin. The improvised explosive was found close to the Hollystown roundabout, on the Cappagh Road in Finglas, at approximately 11.45pm on Tuesday night. The area was sealed off for a period of time and the device has been taken for further examination.

Further Bomb Alert Underway In Belfast
There's a fresh bomb alert underway in the North this afternoon with the Limestone Road in Belfast closed at its junction with Mountcollyer Avenue and York Road after a suspicious object was found. The alert follows a three-day long operation on the nearby Antrim Road that uncovered two bombs - believed to be targeted at PSNI officers.

Explosive Device Made Safe In Dublin
An explosive device was made safe by the Army early on Tuesday morning in Dublin. A bomb disposal team arrived at Cushlawn Park, Tallaght, at 2.35am to deal with the object outside a private home. Local people were evacuated, and the scene was declared safe at 3.20am.
