Man, 49, Injured In Sligo Assault
A man has been injured during an assault, after a dispute in County Sligo last night.
Gardai in Sligo said they are investigating the "serious assault", which occurred at a walkway connecting Stevens Street car park and Rockwood Parade last night. The injured man was found lying near the walkway and the Garavogue River at about 9pm.
A 49-year-male was seriously injured and was initally taken to Sligo general hospital but has since been taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
A spokesman for Gardai said a technical examination had been completed and the areas are now reopened to the public.
"At this early stage of the investigation it would appear that the injured party was in the company of another male at Richmond Parade when a dispute arose which resulted in the injured party receiving head injuries," the spokesman said.
A number of witnesses have already come forward however Gardai are anxious that anyone else with information or anyone that was in or around the Stevens Street car park Rockwood Parade area last night between 6pm and 7pm contact Sligo Garda Station on 071 – 9157000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Pensioner Dies In Sligo Collision
A pensioner has died in a car crash in County Sligo. The collision, which involved a car and a van, occurred at Lufnadeffa, Ballysadare at around 12.20pm on Wednesday. The driver of the car, a female in her 80s and the van driver are being treated in hospital with serious injures. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Man Dies In Fall At Sligo Hotel
Gardaí in Sligo have reported the death of a 28-year-old man after a fall from a railing on Quay Street. The man is thought to have been trying to access Sligo City Hotel at about 01:45 when he fell, sustaining serious head injuries. It is understood that a woman was also injured in the incident.

Two Arrested Over Murder Of Martin Kivlehan
Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Martin Kivlehan. 59-year-old Mr Kivlehan was found with stab wounds at his apartment in Sligo on 03 August. Both men were both arrested in Sligo town and are currently being detained at Sligo Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939.
