Three Held Over McAnaspie Murder

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of teenager Daniel McAnaspie in County Meath last month.

Gardaí this morning said they arrested three people including two females, one aged 17 years the other in her 40's, and one male aged 23.

All three are being detained at Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda Stations under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

The decomposed body of Mr McAnaspie was found by a farmer on May 13 in a drain between two fields about 200 metres off the old Dublin to Derry road at Rathfeigh, Co Meath.

A subsequent postmortem revealed he had died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Daniel, who was in the care of the Health Service Executive when he was killed prompting out cry in the Daíl and calls for a review of State's Care facilities.

He had been last seen on the street at Whitestown Avenue, Blanchardstown, west Dublin, on February 26.

Gardaí believe Daniel became involved in a row in Whitestown with men slightly older than him and was fatally stabbed in the throat and upper body.

The arrests brings the total number of persons held in the investigation to seven.

Three Injured And Three Arrested In Longford Car Chase
Three people required hospital treatment following a high-speed car chase in Longford on Saturday night. Gardai said a patrol car was carrying out a routine circuit of the town when it tried to stop a car. However, the car sped off at speed and gardai gave chase. The chase ended when the suspects car crashed at Goshen cross outside Longford.

Three Arrested In Firearms And Drug Seizure
Three men have been arrested after a firearm and quantity of drugs were seized in west Dublin. Members of the Ronanstown Drugs Unit stopped and searched a car at about 18:50 on Monday in Clondalkin. During the search they recovered a shot gun and seized a quantity of cocaine.
