Politician Arrested Three Times In 24-Hours

An unnamed politician has been arrested three times in a 24-hour period after reportedly being ejected from the Indiepence music festival near Mitchelstown, north Cork.

According to reports the man, understood to be aged in 30s and not from the area, was first detained on Sunday afternoon, 31 July, when garda were alerted to his "erratic behaviour" in the vicinity of the festival.

It is understood the man was uncooperative with Garda, who subsequently detained him and took him the local garda station.

The man was released a few hours later without charge.

However, within 90 minutes he was arrested a second time for suspected drink driving and taken again to Fermoy Garda station.

He was later released, only to be arrested a third time for being drunk and disorderly and returned again to the garda station.

He has since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

It is alleged that a garda officer was assault during one of the arrests.

A man in his 20s was being questioned by officers at Tallaght Garda Station. He has since been released. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

Cannabis with an estimated value of €400,000 has been seized in Co Donegal. Members of the Revenue and Gardaí uncovered the drugs during a search at Castlefin on Tuesday. Garda arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the find.

Man Arrested And Firearm Seized
A firearm has been seized and a man arrested in Crumlin, Dublin. According to gardaí, they were investigating reports of criminal damage at Rutland Grove when they witnessed a row break out between a number of men. The firearm was seized from one of the men involved in the row and he was subsequently arrested.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.
