Ballyfermot Murder Detectives Make Arrest

A fatal shooting last summer has led to an arrest today.

Gardaí in Ballyfermot investigating the murder of Anthony Cannon in Ballyfermot on 17th July 2009 have arrested a man in his early 30s this morning.

They said that the man is being detained in Ballyfermot Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

The arrest comes almost 10 months after the killing at Saint Mary's Avenue West, Ballyfermot, Dublin.

It happened just before 4.00pm that afternoon and led to Gardai responding to a call discovering a man with serious injuries.

The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

Further Arrest In Ballyfermot Murder
A further arrest has been made in connection to the murder of a man in Ballyfermot in November of last year. Gardai in the area, who investigating the murder of David Darcy on Cherry Orchard Avenue on the November 28, said on Thursday they have made a further arrest in relation to the murder.

Range Of Drugs Seized During Arrest
A man has been arrested and a range of drugs seized during an operation in Dublin. During the course of the search, 2.5 kilo's of cocaine, 1 kilo of heroin and 14 ounces of crack cocaine were seized. Gardaí say the arrest and seizure were the result of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Ballyfermot area of Dublin.

Over €700k Worth Of Drugs Seized In West Dublin
Officers from the Garda National Drugs & Crime Bureau have seized drugs worth an estimated €715,000 in two areas in Dublin. A quantity of cocaine and cannabis herb was discovered as part of an intelligence led operation targeting organised crime in west Dublin after two cars were intercepted in the Ballyfermot area.

One Arrested, One Freed Over Cannon Murder
A man has been released just as another was being arrested as part of the oingoing investigation into the murder of Anthony Captain, last June. The released man is in his 30's and Gardaí have said a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Ballyfermot Investigation Becomes Murder Enquiry
An investigation into a serious assault in Ballyfermot has become a murder enquiry following the death of a 25-year-old man. The victim suffered serious injuries in an incident at a house in Palmerstown, Dublin, in the early hours of this morning 09 June 2015.
