Arrest As Second Crash Teenager Dies

Gardaí investigating a fatal accident in Cork city which claimed the lives of two teenagers have arrested a man.

Officers are questioning a 40-year-old man in connection with the incident while a 21-year-old man is also helping them with their inquiries after the accident - in Cork on Harbour View Road, Knocknaheeney - at 11.35pm last night.

A 16-year-old teenager boy was injured when the car in which he was a back seat passenger was involved in a collision with another car, forcing it to hit a wall.

Along with the four other occupants of the car, he was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead. A second teenager has since died in hospital.

Neither of the two occupants of the other car was injured.

The road at the scene of the incident was closed and diversions put in place locally.

Meanwhile, officers in Lucan are investigating another fatal road traffic collision which this time occurred on The N4 near Lucan, Co Dublin shortly after 11.00pm on Thursday.

A 44-year-old female pedestrian was injured when she was struck by a car on the city bound lane of the N4.

She was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown where she was pronounced dead shortly before 2.00am this morning.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Three Killed On Weekend Roads
More people have been killed in separate incidents on Ireland's roads during the weekend. A male in his 20s was fatally injured when the car he was driving lost control and left the road in Co Limerick. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant and no other vehicle was involved. The incident occurred at approximately 6.

Two Dead After Separate Road Accidents
Two people have been killed after separate road traffic collisions over the weekend. In the first incident, a 23-year-old male driver died as the result of the injuries he sustained during a collision in Abbeydorney, County Kerry. Gardai in the area are investigating the two vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday at approximately 8.45pm.

Man Killed In Road Crash In Waterford
A man has died in a road crash in Waterford. The collision, between a truck and a car, happened on the N25 just after Kilmacthomas at around 7.50am on Tuesday, 10 May. The man, aged in his late 20's, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck did not require medical attention.
