Cork Road Accident Kills Man

A young man has died after being fatally injured during a road collision in County Cork.

Gardai at Anglesea Street are investigating the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the South Ring Road, Douglas, Cork shortly after midnight this morning.

The 22-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured when he was struck by a car as he crossed the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Cork University Hospital. There was no one else injured in the collision.

The road was closed for a time and has now been reopened following an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the collision to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 4522000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Man Leaves Scene Of Fatal Accident
A man has been arrested after fleeing from the scene of a fatal accident on County Cork in the early hours of this morning. Two men in their 20s were killed in a head on collision of two vehicles at approximately 2.45am this morning on the N25 at Caherulton, Castlemartyr, County Cork.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Man Dies In Blarney Road Crash
A man has been killed in a two vehicle road crash that occurred between Parkanna Cross Rd and Davis Cross on the Blarney to Bweeng Road at approximately 11.30am on Tuesday. The man in his 20's was fatally injured when his car collided with a lorry. He was the sole occupant of the car and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses After Cyclist Is Hit By Bus
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to an incident in which a cyclist was hit by a bus in south Dublin. According to gardaí, a 55-year-old woman was hit by a bus while cycling at about 21:40 on Burlington Road on Monday night. She is currently being treated at St Vincent's Hospital, where her condition is described as serious.
