Cannibas Lorry Intercepted By Gardaí

A lorry carrying over €1 million worth of cannibas has been intercepted by Gardaí.

The find came following an intelligence led operation by Gardaí from the Divisional Task Force in Santry and Balbriggan Gardaí.

The operation culminated in lorry being stopped and searched on the M1 at Gormanstown, County Meath at approximately 7am this morning.

The subsequent search of the lorry uncovered cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €1.2 million, subject to analysis. The drugs and lorry were then seized by members of the Garda.

A 45-year-old man was arrested and is currently detained in Balbriggan under Section the Criminal Justice.

Superintendent Joe Kelly speaking at Balbriggan Garda Station said today "this is a significant quantity of cannabis, which has been taken off the streets and it demonstrates An Garda Síochána’s commitment to targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs".
