Galway M6 Stretch Opens
The final section of the new Galway to Dublin motorway has opened, cutting the journey time between the two cities to approximately two hours.
The new 56km stretch of the M6 runs from Ballinasloe to the outskirts of Galway city and has been completed four months ahead of schedule.
Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey cut the ribbon on the new motorway east of Ballinasloe and noted that it was built at a cost of €427m, and will save up to 30 minutes in journey time between Galway and Ballinasloe.
However, motorists will have to pay a toll of €1.90 near Ballinasloe and €2.90 on the M4 Kinnegad toll.

Nine-Year-Old Girl Killed In Galway Collision
A young girl, aged nine, has died after a collision with a car while cycling in County Galway. A seven-year-old boy who was also cycling on the R358 Ballinasloe to Ahascragh road is in serious condition in hospital. The incident happened on Sunday morning, 21 April at around 11.55am.

Witnesses Sought To Fatal Collision In Co Galway
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Galway. A man, aged in his 70s, died when the car he was driving hit a wall on the Ballinasloe to Laurencetown Road at Sycamore Hill at approximately 8.30pm last night, Tuesday 20 February.
