Three Held After 'Aggravated' Burglary On Elderly Couple
Three men are being held in Longford after what Gardai have described as an "aggravated" burglary.
Gardai arrested the three men after the incident, which occurred at a house in Clondra, County Longford, which was occupied by two elderly people.
According to Gardai this morning, the incident took place at approximately 1.20am on Thursday, when three men entered the house occupied by a 74-year-old female and 65-year-old-male. The elderly couple were held hostage in a bathroom where they managed to raise the alarm.
Local Gardai units from Longford arrived at the scene, and the three men tried to escape. They were pursued on foot and arrested. The three males, (two in their 30’s and one in his 20’s), are currently detained at Longford Garda Station under Sect 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The elderly couple is currently at Roscommon General Hospital where they are receiving treatment for minor injuries and shock. The scene is preserved for technical examination and the investigation is ongoing.
