Body Found After Ferry Fall

A woman's body has been recovered from the sea off the Co Wexford coast.

According to reports this morning, lifeboats were summoned at around 10pm last night, after a woman in her 40s fell overboard from a Stena Line ferry.

The Air Sea Rescue Helicopter from Waterford accompanied by the Rosslare Lifeboat, and Kilmore Quay Lifeboat took part in the subsequent search operation.

The vessel remained at the scene, about three miles from the Irish coast.

The body was recovered after about two hours by the Kilmore Quay Lifeboat at around 12.30am and was taken to Rosslare harbour and then by road to Wexford General Hospital.

A Stena Line spokesman said the company would be assisting the police in their investigation.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Some thirty people had to be rescued from a tall ship that hit rocks off the coast of Cork. It is understood that the Astrid, a 42-metre Dutch training vessel, hit rocks and began taking on water at Oysterhaven, near Kinsale, at around midday.

Trawler Being Towed To Safety Off Wexford Coast
A large trawler that got into difficulty last night off the coast of County Wexford is being towed to safety. Following engine difficulty, the 27m vessel, Endurance, was reported to be drifting at around 11.30pm last night. The Kilmore Quay lifeboat is due to arrive at Rosslare Harbour before 10.

Public Hearings To Be Held Over Waterford Mortuary Concerns
A series of public hearings are to be held to discuss the ongoing issues with Waterford Mortuary, after a number of pathologists condemned the condition of the facility. Consultants claimed dead bodies had been left on trolleys at the University Hospital Waterford, causing body fluids to leak on the floor.
