Brothel Busted In Blanchardstown

Gardaí have revealed they have uncovered a Brohel in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin.

According to a Garda spokensman this morning, the discovery was made as part of a planned operation by officers from the area.

Gardaí from the Blanchardstown Station carried out a search at an apartment in Blanchardstown yesterday evening and two Eastern European women in their 20s were arrested at the scene for suspected brothel keeping.

They are detained at Finglas and Cabra Garda Stations under the Criminal Justice Act.

Officers say the operation is on-going and more details are expected to emerge today.

The news comes following a case in Belfast last week when a convicted Brothel worker walked free.

Cheng Sook Wong, who is originally from Malaysia, was arrested during a police raid on the property at Tates Avenue in the south of the city in November 2008. The 58-year-old answered phone calls and directed punters to the house where Asian women worked as prostitutes. She was given a three month sentence and released because of time spent on remand.
