Man Held Over Massereene Murders

A mid-Ulster man has been arrested by detectives investigation the Real IRA murders of two British soldiers and attempted murders of five other people.

The 44-year-old was detained at Antrim Police Station last night.

He is being quizzed about the fatal shootings of Sappers Mark Quinsey, 23, from Birmingham, and Patrick Azimkar, 21, from London, at Massereene Army base, Antrim, in March.

The young men were collecting pizzas from the front of the barracks when they came under fire from semi-automatic rifles.

It is believed two gun men opened fire from a parked car in the Real IRA orchestrated attack.

The dissident republican terror group later claimed responsibility for the killings.

Four other people were seriously wounded, including the pizza delivery men.

Colin Duffy, a well-known dissident republican, is the only other person to be accused of the murders so far.
