Kenny Barred From Fianna Fail Café
The Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny was shocked on Thursday when he found himself barred from entering a Café owned by a prominent Fianna Fail member.
During a canvassing campaign in Duleek, Co Meath, with Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness, the Fine Gael leader was stopped at the door when he decided to call into Oscar's Bistro on its main street.
The Café's owner, Sharon Keoghan, is a member of Fianna Fail's national executive and refused entry to the TD.
According to reports today, Mr Kenny initially believed the instruction from Ms Keoghan was a joke.
Ms Keoghan confirmed she had stopped Mr Kenny and an entourage of 20 people from entering claiming she had a clear policy that her customers are "entitled to privacy and are never subjected to any form of canvassing".
Ms Keoghan failed to get a nomination from Fianna Fail to run for Meath County Council in the current local elections.
During yesterday's heady campaigning around the country, the opposition leader said voters should "do something positive" and vote for a new team and a fresh start by voting Fine Gael.
"June the 5th is an opportunity for the Irish people to vote for a new team and fresh start in Irish politics. The team with the ideas and plans to get our country moving again is the Fine Gael team," he said.
Mr Kenny added that a Fine Gael vote would send a message of change to the current Government.
