Driver Sought After Fatal Crash

The driver of a car involved in a fatal road incident is being sought in connection with an incident in Co Cork last month.

Gardaí launched an appeal for witnesses to the fatal collision, which occurred on the 13th April 2009 at Knockane Cross, Castlemartyr, Co Cork.

Officers said they in particular wish to speak to the driver of a silver car, which was seen in the area immediately prior to the collision.

The collision involved a blue Yamaha motorbike and a Green Isuzu jeep. The Knockane Cross is the first junction on the N25 Waterford Road as you leave the village of Castlemartyr.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Gardai in Youghal at 024 92200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

In other road news The N52 Tullamore to Birr Road is closed between Blue Ball and Kilcormac following a collision. Motorists travelling along this route are advised to take an alternative route. Gardaí will on the scene diverting traffic.

Meanwhile AA Road Watch is advising that due to the racing taking place at Punchestown Racecourse today, extra traffic through Naas and in the area surrounding the racecourse is expected. The first race is at 5:10pm and the last race at 8:55pm.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Second Road Tragedy As Crash Driver Dies
Tuam police are investigating a second fatal road traffic collision within hours. It occurred at approximately 8am this morning on the N17 between Ballindine and Milltown. The 45-year-old male driver of a car was killed when his vehicle was in collision with a tanker. The deceased has been removed to University College Hospital Galway.

Appeal For Witnesses Following Fatal Road Accident
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident in County Waterford on Wednesday, 09 September. A man in his 50s was seriously injured when his motorcycle hit a wall on the R448, near Waterford City, at about 17:15. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford where he was pronounced dead.

Two Dead In Separate Collisions
Two people have died on Ireland's roads after traffic collisions in Dublin and Kilkenny in the last two days. In the latest incident, a male aged 19 was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a stationary vehicle. His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.
