Thousands Of Calls Made To Drugs Helpline

Almost 3,000 calls have been made to a special hotline, set up to allow members of the public to report drug dealing in their communities.

The Dial to Stop Drug Dealing initiative was set up last September, and is operating in Dublin, Kildare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

The purpose of the line is to report drug-dealing in a confidential and anonymous manner.

According to the organisers of the scheme, the calls received so far have led to 769 reports to the gardaí.
