Woman, 60, In Court Over Cold Case Murder

A woman in her 60's will appear at Longford District Court on Tuesday morning charged in relation to the death of 43-year-old Brian Mc Grath in Co Westmeath 21 years ago.

A Family Man and father-of-four, Mr McGrath went missing from his home in Coole in Co Westmeath in March of 1987.

In a follow up investigation a garda search team discovered human remains but nobody was charged in connection with the death at that stage.

Mr McGrath's body was exhumed and retested using DNA techniques that were unavailable at the time of his death after new information came to light from a female witness.

A 46-year-old man also appeared in Athlone District Court on 6 February charged in relation with the murder.
