Teen Charged After Cork Gun Incident

A 19-year-old man has appeared before Cork District Court charged in connection with an armed 'stand-off' in the city over the weekend.

He was charged with making threats to kill and has been remanded in custody until Tuesday.

The man was one of two men arrested following an incident on John Redmond Street at around 11pm on Saturday night.

At around midnight on Saturday, uniformed gardaí, acting on a call, arrived to a flat on John Redmond Street.

Upon arrival they were confronted by two men, one of whom appeared to be in possession of a handgun.

Gardaí called for back-up from the regional support unit and two men were arrested.

The second man, who is in his 20s, has been released without charge. The two were detained in Mayfield Garda Station after the incident.

On-Duty Firefighter Arrested On Suspicion Of Drink Driving
A fireman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving while on duty behind the wheel of a fire engine. The man was driving a fire truck on the Callan Road, Kilkenny over the weekend and approached a checkpoint. It is believed he was returning from an emergency incident and failed a breath test. He was issued a fixed charged penalty notice.

Three Men Charged Over Waterford Incident
Three men arrested yesterday following an incident at a halting site in Waterford have been brought to court. The three men were arrested on public order offences and two of the men have been charged with threatening and abusive behaviour. The other man has been charged with trespass.

Man Charged With Ballymun Gun Seizure
A 22-year-old man is due to appear in court this morning charged in connection with the seizure of a firearm in Ballymun on Monday, 13 July. Gardaí stopped a car at 17:00 on Monday on Carton Way, Ballymun, Dublin 11. Two men aged 25 and 22 were the sole occupants of this vehicle.

Man Arrested Over Gangland Murder
Gardaí have arrested a man in his 50s in connection with the double gangland murder in Dublin's north inner city earlier this month. The man was detained this morning in connection with the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Michael Cronin and 26-year-old James Moloney in the Summerhill area on January 7.

Pair Charged Over Ballymun Incident
Gardaí in Ballymun investigating an incident on Clare Road in Dublin 9 on 5 December have charged a 42 and a 43-year-old man on 7 December. At about 21:30 on Friday night, it was reported that a number of males wearing balaclavas had been seen acting suspiciously at the rear of a house.
