Appeal Launched Over Assault

An appeal has been launched after the assault of a man in Dublin last Sunday.

Gardaí at Kevin Street are now seeking the public's assistance in relation to their investigation into the assault that occurred on Camden Row on the Sunday 12th April between 1.00 and 1.15am approximately.

A 22-year-old man was assaulted outside the side door of Whelans pub. He was brought to St James's Hospital where it was later discovered that he had a serious head injury as a result of the incident. The man was then immediately brought to Beaumont hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

He is currently in a serious but stable condition in Beaumont Intensive Care Unit.

Gardaí are requesting any member of the public that was in the Camden St /Camden Row area on the night, particularly between 12.30am-01.30am, that may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to offer to contact them.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

Garda Appeal For Witnesses To St Stephen's Green Attack
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to an assault at St. Stephen's Green West in the early hours of Sunday, 21 June. A 45-year-old man was attacked by another man at about 03:30am, suffering serious injuries. He was taken to Saint James’ Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Man Charged In Connection With Stabbing Teen
A man has appeared in court charged in relation to the stabbing of a 16-year-old in Drogheda, Co Louth, on Wednesday. Jamie Gallagher, 21, faces two charges, assault causing harm and producing a knife. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.

Afghanistan Veteran On Rape Charge
A bomb-blasted former soldier has appeared in court in Belfast charged with rape and false imprisonment. Gerald Verner, 23, of Forthriver Park, who was deafened by a bomb in Afghanistan, is also accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm, sexual assault and threats to kill against the same woman.

Youth Charged With Murder Of Brazilian Man
A 17-year-old youth has been charged with the murder of a Brazilian man in Co Meath. Claudio Fernandes (33) died in Beaumont hospital in Dublin nearly two weeks after being found with stab wounds in Duleek on July 29. The youth, who is also Brazilian and cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in Dunleer District Court today.
