Police Hunt Car In Murder Probe

Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of Seamus (Shay) O'Byrne, on the 13th of March are appealing for the public's assistance in establishing the location and movements of a car.

The shooting, which has been linked to an ongoing feud between Dublin's major criminal gangs sparked fears there could be a return to violence after months of relative calm.

The hunt is now on for the white five-door Nissan Micra hatchback, registration number 93 MH 3613.

A gardaí spokesman said that anyone who may know the current location of the vehicle or have seen the vehicle in the days prior to or since 13th March is asked to contact the incident room at Tallaght station on 01-6666056.

Shay O'Byrne, 27, was shot three times in the back as he attempted to escape his killers during an orchestrated attack.

His girlfriend, Sharon Rattigan, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg but their 18-month-old toddler Nicky escaped unharmed.

Gardaí detectives investigating the shooting have also made an additional arrest last night - 19th March 2009 - a woman in her late 20's in currently being detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
