Man Arrested Over Friar's Walk Killing

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in the Friar's walk area of Cork.

Gardaí investigating the death of the 27-year-old Edward Gallagher of Hollyhill in the city in the early hours of the Sunday morning made the arrest this morning.

He was arrested on the north side of Cork city and is being held in the Bridewell station.

Gardai in Anglesea Street, Cork are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Mr Gallagher, after he was found seriously injured in the Friar's Walk area at about 7am on Sunday morning.

Gardai were alerted to the incident by ambulance control. The male, in his late 20's was removed to Cork University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8am.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Customs Seize 120,000 Illegal Cigarettes
Cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €57,000 have been seized by customs officers at Cork Airport. Some 120,000 Marlboro cigarettes were discovered in 12 suitcases that had arrived on a flight from Wroclaw, Poland. Garda arrested two men, understood to be Polish nationals, in connection with the find.

Man Arrested Over €400,000 Cannabis Find
Cannabis with an estimated value of €400,000 has been seized in Co Donegal. Members of the Revenue and Gardaí uncovered the drugs during a search at Castlefin on Tuesday. Garda arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the find.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

64-Year-Old Left Critical After Assault In Co Tipperary
A 64-year-old man is in serious condition in hospital following an assault in Co Tipperary on Thursday. The man was found at a house in Ballyporeen at about 15:00 on Thursday when paramedics responded to a call. He is in Cork University Hospital, where is said to be "fighting for his life".
