Killed Motorcyclist Named

Gardaí have named the 38-year-old motorcyclist killed in a tragic collision in Co. Carlow.

The man is James Fleming of Hillside, Borris, Co. Carlow.

Gardaí at Portlaoise are continuing to investigate the two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred on the Stradbally to Carlow Rd (N80) on the Sunday morning at approximately 9.45am.

In the incident, a car was in collision with a motorcycle resulting in the 38-year-old motorcycle driver being fatally injured. He was taken to Portlaoise Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Sunday afternoon. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

The accident scene has been examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí at Portlaoise are continuing their appeal to any member of the public that may have been travelling on the same stretch of road between 9.30am and 10am yesterday morning that may have witnessed this incident to contact them at 057-8674100.

Motorcyclist Killed In Carlow Collision
A man has been killed in a collision in Co Carlow. At approximately 3pm on Tuesday afternoon, the man, aged 24, was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a collision with a motor car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Motorcyclist Dies In Carlow Crash
A man has been killed in a road crash in Co Carlow. The motorcyclist died when he collided with a parked vehicle at Closutton, near Leighlinbridge, at around 9.30am this morning. The man’s body has been removed to Kilkenny hospital. His name has not yet been released. Gardaí are investigating the incident.
