Cannibas Seized From Man In Cork

A large quantity of cannabis has been seized from a man in Cork yesterday.

Gardaí say at approximately 7pm yesterday evening, officers from The Garda National Drugs Unit, supported by the Divisional Drugs Unit Cork, stopped and searched a car in the Watergrasshill area.

As a result of the search, 5 kilos of suspected cannabis grass was seized with a potential street value of approximately €50,000, depending on an analysis by specialist Gardaí officers.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and is presently detained at Cobh Garda Station under the Drug Trafficking Act.

A Gardaí spokesman said: "It is believed that the drugs were destined for the North City Cork area."

Cash Seized During Drug Raid
A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of €85,000 in cash at a flat in Cork city. It is understood members of the Cork City Divisional Drugs Squad uncovered the cash during a drug raid on a flat in Tuckey Street at about 21:30 on Tuesday night. A 37-year-old Hungarian national was arrested at the scene.

Trial Hears Man Felt Suicidal Ahead Of Attack On Neighbour
A man standing trial for murder told gardaí he paced around his flat feeling suicidal before going to the victim’s bedsit and stabbing him, the court has heard. 39-year-old Lloyd Buckley told gardaí that he was contemplating taking his own life after taking some heroin and he called to the nearby bedsit of Michael Healy (62).

Drugs Seized And 15 Arrests Made In 'Operation Reuben'
Gardaí have arrested a total of 15 people in Co Cork as part of a major anti-drug operation. Dubbed "Operation Reuben", Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit moved in and arrested 15 people within 48 hours following "a lengthy drugs operation". Of those arrested, 11, of which two are female, have been charged.
