Teen Sent To Criminal Court In Connection With Murder Charge

The case against a teenage boy who is charged with murder has been sent forward to the Central Criminal Court.

The 17-year-old teenager, who can not be named, heard he was facing a book of evidence at the children's criminal court today.

The boy was charged on December 24 in connection with 35-year-old David Rooney, at Clonmacnoise Road, in Crumlin, in Dublin, on July 2 last year.

Judge Ann Ryan heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions consented for the case to be returned for trial to present sittings of the Central Criminal Court.

Judge Ryan notified the teenager that if he intended to use an alibi as part of his defence, he must notify the State within 14 days.

Teen Sentenced To Life Following Fatal Stabbing
A 19-year-old has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing another teenager in Dublin two years ago. Marcus Kirwin of Cooley Road, Driminagh, pleaded not guilty to the murder of David Byrne. Mr Byrne sustained eight stab wounds to his back and one to the face.

Ex AIB Manager Hunted By Gardaí And Interpol
Gardaí and Interpol have launched a hunt for an ex-AIB manager in connection with the disappearance of €2 million. Kieran Ashcroft, aged around 40, of Courtmacsherry, Co Cork, is an ex-employee of AIB in Mallow.
