Man Charged Over Valeri Ranert Killing

A man has been charged in connection with the killing of Valeri Ranert in Dublin almost two years ago.

Yesterday morning a 25-year-old man was charged in Swords District Court in relation to the murder of Mr Ranert, which occurred on the 30th April 2007.

According to a Gardaí spokesman: "Valeri Ranert was attacked by a number of men as he sat in a parked car with a female companion at Naul Road, Forret Little, Swords, Co. Dublin."

Following the attack, Mr Ranert was removed to Beaumont Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

A total of four arrests were made over the course of the investigation and the man charged yesterday is the second man to be charged in relation to Valeri Ranert's death.

Three Arrested For Airport Murder
Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man at Dublin Airport in April 2007. Estonian man, Valeri Ranert, was pulled from his car and attacked by a gang whilst parked at a lay-by outside Dublin Airport around 1.00am on April 30 of last year. An Estonian woman was with Mr Ranert at the time of the attack.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Man Charged Over Liverpool Attack On Irish Man
One of two men arrested on Sunday in connection with the assault of an Irish man in Liverpool has been charged, Merseyside Police have confirmed. 19-year-old Kyle Thompson, of Cockerell Street, Kirkdale, has been charged with assault and is due to appear today at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.
