Soldiers Recalled In Cross Border Commemoration
Former soldiers from both sides of the Irish border stood shoulder to shoulder in Co Louth on Saturday to honour servicemen from the Republic and Northern Ireland.
Around 150 people gathered at the Cenotaph in Drogheda at the all-Ireland remembrance event to pay tribute to the hundreds of men from the town killed fighting with the British Forces.
"We came to Drogheda and enjoyed a beautiful service with Catholics and Protestants next to each other," said the 88-year-oldD-Day veteran John Jenkin from Carrickfergus, Antrim.
Jim Bowman, a 62-year-old from Bangor, Co Down, who served with the Royal Ulster Rifles from 1965 to 1975, said: "British soldiers are from the north and south, all over the country."
The Irish ex-service men's association, the Organisation of National Ex-Servicemen (ONE) and representatives from across Northern Ireland, headed by Whiteabbey Royal British Legion, laid wreaths bearing the Royal Crest and Tricolour during the ecumenical service.
The mayors of Newtownabbey and Drogheda - Victor Robinson and Frank Maher - represented their communities at the inter-denominational religious ceremony, which has been held in the town for the past nine years.
Drogheda man Joe Lynch, a member of the Irish Defence Forces for 23 years and Chairman of the Slane ONE Branch said it paid tribute to the Irish men who died: "We don't have any problem with any of our Nato comrades," he said.
"I believe they should all be remembered."

Two people have been arrested and a firearm has been seized following a Gardai operation targeting dissident republican activity in the Drogheda area. On 11 July, Garda stopped and searched a car at around 3pm in the Crushrod Avenue area.

INMO Members Hold Further Protests
Nurses and midwives, members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), SIPTU and the PNA, are to hold further lunchtime protests. The action is being taken today (2 March) in a number of locations. It is in response to a proposed 50% increase in the annual retention fee being sought by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Drivers Urged To Take Extra Care On The Roads
Motorists have been urged to take extra care on the roads due to snowfall overnight. On minor roads, ice and snow are causing major problems. Cavan, Drogheda, Monaghon, Kells, Greystones, Navan and Kilkenny city have particularly been affected by heavy snow. It will be very cold and windy today with frequent showers, according to Met Eireann.

Search For Man Who Stole Garda Car
A hunt has been launched for a man that stole a Garda vehicle before driving it over the border and alighting in South Armagh. Gardaí said they are searching for the man who was stopped by two gardaí driving near Lusk, Co Dublin, at around 9.30pm on Sunday night. He was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and placed in the garda car.
