Lite, 54-71, Slomatics, Adebisi Shank

How often do you switch on the radio and freeze at what you are listening to? Once a day, once a week, Once a year? Well it happened to me a few weeks ago when I turned on the radio only to be confronted with Abedisi Shank.

All I could hear was this whizzing guitar, frantic drums and blindingly wild sounds blaring from my little bedside radio, as BBC radio one replayed a recent appearance in Lavery's. At last a chance to see these guys has arrived as they join a top class line up, again in Lavery's, on Monday 13th October.

A Japanese contingent heads up proceedings on the night, as post rockers Lite rejoin Adebisi on the line-up after the latter played with the former in Japan. Lite have toured Japan constantly in recent years, and are embarking on their second UK & Ireland tour since last September. Expect Crimson-esque jazz-rock to full-scale guitar assault, apparently.

They'll be joined by another Japanese outfit 54-71, who are also in the post rock category, although staying on the other side of instrumental as they feature a rap artist as part of their outfit and are known to drop some dirty hip-hop into proceedings.

Finally filling the already brimming line-up are the Slomatics. The band administer slow doom laden deathly riffing, with at least several minutes between chord change, it's powerfully atmospheric stuff.

So if you're into some of the most frantic musicianship, and heavy riffing going on in the city, I'm recommending this gig, but I wouldn't show up unless you knew what you were in for…

Lite, 54-71, Slomatics, Adebisi Shank appear on Monday 13th October in Laverys Bunker £6 admission. Note, this is an early show. Doors 7pm.
