Gardaí Seize Thousands Of DVD's

As part of an ongoing operation into DVD pirating, gardaí have seized thousand's of DVD's following a series of searches around Dublin.

A total of 7,800 unlicensed DVD's were seized from five undisclosed premises around Dublin on Friday by Gardai from Pearse Street and Harcourt Terrace in the capital.

The seizures were part of the ongoing Operation Harbour, with the retail value of the most recent finds estimated between €360,000 and €400,000. No arrests were made as yet, but files are being prepared for the Director Of Public Prosecution.

As part of the same operation, two previous searches, in July and at the start of September resulted in the seizure of 1,980 DVD's with a retail value of €110,000. The total number of videos seized so far as part of the operation to date is 9,780 with a retail value of €460,000 and €500,000.

Gardaí say the DVD's will be referred to the office of the Film Classification Office.

Gardaí Seize Two Million Contraband Cigarettes
