Roads Claim Both Old And Young
Bad news continues on Irish roads as Carlow Gardaí are continuing to investigate a fatal collision that occurred at 7.30am yesterday morning.
The accident was on the N80 Carlow to Wexford road and saw a 61-year-old female pedestrian struck by a car, about 2km outside Carlow town.
She received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny.
Gardai are not looking for anyone else in relation to this collision.
The road has been re opened following the collision.
Meanwhile, the person killed in another fatal road traffic collision yesterday - at Bunghara, Kerry - has been named as 16 year-old Matthew O' Connor of Dromtrasna, Collins, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick.

Two Killed On Weekend Roads
Two men have died on Ireland's roads this weekend, following warnings of poor driving conditions. One man, who was the driver (aged 23 years), was killed while two others were seriously injured, when the silver BMW car they were travelling in crashed into an entrance pillar.

Two Dead In Separate Collisions
Two people have died on Ireland's roads after traffic collisions in Dublin and Kilkenny in the last two days. In the latest incident, a male aged 19 was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a stationary vehicle. His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

NRA Call For Introduction Of Additional Tolls On M50
The National Roads Authority (NRA) has called for the introduction of more tolls on the M50 in an effort to address gridlock on the countries busiest road. The NRA said that "effective measures" were needed to address congestion on the M50, and that traffic control decisions needed to be "taken now".

N5 Open To The Public
After 16 months of construction and an investment of €26 million, the N5 Longford Bypass opens 2 months ahead of schedule. Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar, welcomed the opening of the N5 Longford Bypass. "The bypass will dramatically improve the town environment for residents, traders and the public in general.
