St Pat's Day Brawl Recalled
A St Patrick's day Bundoran bar fight was so heated a member of the Gardai had to leave for his own safety, Ballyshannon District Court has heard.
Sergeant Iggy Larken explained to the court he had to leave The Emerald Bar on Main Street, Bundoran, to avoid injury because the row was so bad.
Sgt. Larkin told the Court he went to the pub in the early hours of St Patrick's Day after he was informed two women had been assaulted at the premises.
Publican, Denis McCaffrey admitted serving alcohol after hours.
Mr McCaffrey pleaded guilty and was fined €400 by Judge Kevin Kilraine.

National Gallery Attendants Stage One-Day Strike
SIPTU members at the National Gallery held a one-day strike on Thursday in a dispute over plans to reduce annual leave by seven days. Thirty nine attendants, who are responsible for management and maintenance of rooms, staged the strike after they rejected a Labour Court recommendation in the dispute.

Men To Appeal Christmas Day Drag Race Convictions
Two travellers are to appeal their convictions in connection with a Christmas Day drag race between a Porsche and BMW. 20-year-old Brian Gammell, from Pound Lane, Rathkeale, Co Limerick, and 19-year-old Roger Boswell of Setchel Grove, Cambridge, England, both pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Ballinlyny, Rathkeale on Christmas Day.

Minister For Transport Accused Of Failing To Address M50 Capacity
Sinn Féin has criticised the Minister for Transport, Shane Ross, for his "failure to address the serious capacity issues on the M50 motorway". Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Transport, Imelda Munster, has asked Ross to come clean on whether he intends to introduce multi-point tolling in an effort to reduce the number of vehicles using the road.

Police in Lanzarote investigating the death of Dereck Cumiskey have arrested a local man in connection with incident. The 18-year-old from Dublin died during an attack on August 1 at the Canary Islands resort of Puerto del Carmen.
