Garda Sting Halts €4 Drug Smuggle Bid
Gardaí have seized a huge drugs cache - just before it was due to be distributed on the streets of Dublin.
The shipment worth over €4 million was seized after a major operation involving the national drugs unit and the surveillance unit.
The gang involved in the attepted smuggling is reported to have been targeted by garda for some months, and this was the third shipment to be intercepted by detectives from the gang since the start of the year.
Armed detectives captured the 20 kilos of heroin after they stopped a car near the Halfway House pub at Ashtown, on the Navan Road, shortly after 9pm last night.
They arrested the 21-year-old driver of the car, who is from Ballymun, and brought him to Blanchardstown garda station for questioning.
Last January, gardai seized 32 kilos of heroin, with a street value of €6.4m, from the same gang in west Dublin and a further 10 kilos, worth €2m was recovered by detectives in Co Meath in March.
Senior officers hailed the seizure as a highly significant success against the criminal outfit, which is known to have established a network of contacts overseas.

Four Men To Appear In Court Over Cannabis Find
Four men are to appear in court today in connection with a drugs find in Finglas. Gardai seized 470 cannabis plants during a raid on three properties at Meakstown Close on Saturday. It is estimated to have a street value of €376,000. The men were arrested on Saturday night and are to appear at Blanchardstown District Court.

Cannabis Seized In Co Kildare
Gardaí in Co Kildare have seized cannabis worth an estimated €800,000. The find was made during a planned search of a house in Crossmorris on Monday. Officers seized 40kg of cannabis herb in the search. A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the find.

Cannabis Seized During Raid In Wexford
Gardai have seized herbal cannabis following a raid on a house in Wexford. It is estimated to have a street value of €45,000. A number of plants were found during the search of a property in Lee Heights on Thursday. No arrests were made and investigations are continuing.

Luxury Cars Seized In Operation Targeting Drug Gang
Two luxury cars have been seized as part of an operation targeting one of Ireland's largest drug gangs, the Criminal Assets Bureau has reported. Officers carried out raid operations at a gym in south Dublin and a home in Ballyfermot, west Dublin. During the operations, CAB officers seized an Audi Q5 SUV and a Toyota Hilux 4x4.
