Irish Tourist Drowns In Pool On His First Holiday Abroad

An Irish Tourist has died in a hotel swimming pool during his first holiday abroad.

Keith Murphy, 20, was dragged limp from the pool at the Jable Bermuda Apartments, Lanzarote only hours after he checked into the resort on Sunday evening. Paramedics failed to revive the man who was holidaying with two friends in the Canary Islands when their adventure turned to tragedy on Monday night.

Mr Murphy from Donomore Crescent in Tallaght, Dublin died on his first night at the popular resort of Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote during his first holiday abroad.

According to local reports, the tragedy occurred before 5.00am yesterday, only a matter of hours after Keith and his two friends had checked into their hotel in the popular resort.

Emergency services were called to the complex and ambulance staff tried in vain to resuscitate the young man who had been pulled from the swimming pool by his friends.

It is thought that Keith and his pals were partying around the pool along with two other Irish holidaymakers they met that night before the tragedy.
