Appeal For Privacy Wexford Family Deaths

The grandparents of two children who died in a Wexford house fire along with their parents have appealed for privacy to the media.

Diarmuid and Lorraine Flood have made the request as they try to come to terms with the tragedy that claimed the lives of the couple and their two young children.

The family of four were found dead following a fire at their home in Clonroche, Co Wexford, on Saturday morning.

The Gardaí are treating the deaths as suspicious, but no details about how the family died have been publicly disclosed.

All four of the deceased had injuries consistent with fire and neither of the children show signs of any other injury.

The bodies of Dermot and Lorraine Flood however did have other injuries, but the cause of which cannot be determined pending full postmortem examinations.

A legally held shotgun was also recovered at the scene and the relevance of this discovery is yet to be determined.

Post mortem examinations are expected to be concluded on Monday.

In a statement on Sunday morning, the parents of Mr and Mrs Flood appealed for privacy as they try to mourne the deaths.
