€142,000 Of GAA Money Goes Missing

Gardaí in Waterford are investigating the loss of €142,000 from the local GAA County Board.

A senior official in the county has already resigned his position following an internal GAA investigation, which is understood to be on going for a number of months.

A spokesperson for Waterford county board said a legal writ has been issued against the former official and gardaí have been informed of the situation.

An emergency county board meeting was held on Monday night were it was confirmed that €142,000 is missing. The money is believed to be from the sales of All Ireland tickets last year.

Efforts are underway to retrieve the money and an internal Waterford GAA investigation is being conducted into how this matter could have arisen.

It is expected that the GAA headquarters in Croke Park will also launch its own investigation.
