Further Appeals In Taxi Stabbing Inquiry

Gardaí are continuing their appeal for a couple to come forward in connection to the murder of a man in Blanchardstown on Tuesday evening.

Mark Smyth, a 31-year-old taxi driver from the Hawthorns, Duleek, Co Meath was attacked in the Fortlawn estate. He had been stabbed a number of times in the neck and chest.

Gardaí are keen to speak to a couple in their 20s who fled the scene after the incident occurred.

Mr Smyth, who was off-duty at the time, was believed to have picked up the man and woman and then drove them to Fortlawn Avenue in Blanchardstown. His partner and son where also in the car.

It is understood a row broke out in the car and Mr Smyth was subsequently chased down the road by the couple. He was then stabbed and left to die in the front garden of a house.

Gardaí continued to search for clues yesterday, and it has been reported that a weapon, believed to have been used in the attack, was found.
